The Qingdao Government Scholarship for International Students set up by Qingdao government, to provide a reward funding for international students in universities of Qingdao, aimed at being a response implementation of the national strategy “The belt and Road”, to expand the opening up of education to the outside world, to attract an increasing number of excellent international students to come to Qingdao, and to improve the internationalization of higher education in Qingdao. The scholarship is divided into a freshman scholarship and an on-campus scholarship. The Application Procedure of the 2023 Qingdao Government Scholarship for International Students (freshman) in Ocean University of China is as follows:


I. Applicant Qualifications

(1) Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, be in a good physical and mental condition, and be aged between 18 and 40 years old.

(2) Applicants must be enrolled at Ocean University of China as an undergraduate, a postgraduate or a student of long-term study program.

(3) Applicants should not be a holder of any other scholarships.(the study duration more than 1 semester )


II. Coverage

(1)Postgraduates: RMB30,000 per person

(2)Undergraduates: RMB20,000 per person

(3)Long-term language students: RMB10,000 per person(study duration more than 1 semester)

The freshman scholarships are offered for the first year only.


III. Eligibility

(1) Applicants must be in a good physical and mental condition.

(2) The degree requirements are that the application must:

Be a high school graduate when applying to an undergraduate program;

Be a bachelor’s degree holder when applying to a master’s program;

Be a master’s degree holder when applying to a doctoral program.

(3) Applicants must perform well both academically and behaviorally.

(4) Language level certificate: Please refer to the specific requirements of each major.

(5) Those applicants who give up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens, will be handled according to the guidance of Document No.12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC.

(6)Qingdao government scholarship and Ocean University of China President Scholarship for freshman scholarship, you can only choose one of them.


IV. How to Apply

The application procedures must download the application from the website, and then complete it, send application materials to iec@ouc.edu.cn . The email should be named “application for Qingdao Government Scholarship + applicant's name".


V. Application Duration

The deadline for Undergraduate and Postgraduate applicants is June 10,2023.

The deadline for long-term language student applicants is June 30, 2023.

Undergraduate Students:

2.Language level certificate:

Applying Chinese -TaughtProgram: HSK Level 3,>180 points.

Applying English-Taught Program:TOEFL>80,IELTS>5.5.

3.High School Diploma(original or notarized copy) & Chinese translation version

4.Academic Transcript(original or notarized copy)

5.Passport Copy and a 2-inch Photo

6.CV (Both in native language & in Chinese); it must include: personal information, education experience, and the student’s work experience.

7. Evidence of work & Chinese translation version (Required document for applications who had working experience)

8.Certificate of Non-criminal Record

9.Foreigner Physical Examination Form

10. Letter of Financial Support(International applicants for degree programs should provide a financial statement of more than 40,000 RMB.)


Postgraduate Students:

2.Applicants for master’s programs should submit the bachelor degree certificate (original or notarized copy)& Chinese translation version.

3.Applicants for doctoral programs should submit the master degree certificate (original or notarized copy)& Chinese translation version.

4.Academic Transcript (original or notarized copy)

5.Recommendation Letters From Two Professors

6.Passport Copy and a 2-inch Photo

7.A Research Plan

8.CV (Both in native language & in Chinese);it must include: personal information, education experience, and the student’s work experience.

9.Language Level Certificate:

Applying Chinese-Taught Program: HSK Level 4, >180 points.

Applying English-Taught Program :TOEFL>80,IELTS>5.5.

(3) Passport Copy and a 2-inch Photo

(4)CV (both in the student’s native language & in Chinese); it must include: personal information, education experience, and the student’s work experience.

(5)Evidence of work & Chinese translation version (Required document for applications who had working experience)

(6)Foreigner physical examination form.

(7) The letter of financial support (International applicants for non-degree programs (one academic year or more) should provide a financial statement of more than 20,000 RMB.)

(8) Certificate of Non-criminal Record


VII. Disclaimer

(1) The university will not accept incomplete material or material that does not fulfill the requirements.

(2) Forged documents and false information must not be submitted.

(3) If the scholarship recipient is not able to register for their program on time, please notify us at least 15 days advance. Recipients with unexcused absence will be disqualified.

(4) If the physical exam is not passed, or if the student drops out of or suspends their studies, the scholarship will be terminated.
